About Marcie

Serving Nashville and Greater Middle Tennessee

Marcie Hadley, doula, lamaze instructor, and lactation counselor

During my growing up years, birth was a normal event.  As my friends  began having their babies, however,  this was not their experience.  Interventions and trauma  were more likely to be their experience.  Through their birth stories, I became aware of the need for compassionate support and care for mothers and mothers-to-be.  Becoming a doula was a natural outflow.

In 2010, I attended a DONA, Int. doula training.  Since that time, I have attended births in and out of hospitals  in the United States and Uganda supporting women during pregnancy, labor, birth, and throughout their postpartum transition.  I especially enjoy supporting couples as they work together during birth and caring for their new baby.

My experience includes supporting:

  • first time mothers
  • mothers of many
  • unmedicated births
  • medicated births
  • inductions
  • c-sections
  • high risk pregnancies
  • VBAC mothers
  • single mothers
  • adoption
  • hospital, birth center, and home births
  • trauma

Services I provide:

I have  worked with women in crisis pregnancy, served on Advisory Board for an adoption agency, and with Alabama Birth Coalition’s Midwives for Alabama campaign.  I’m a member of H.E.A.R.T. Birth Professionals.  My most proud accomplishment is being mother to my two children and Nana to two princesses.
